Bee-Informed #1 | Ancient Egypt

Did you know....
🐝In Ancient Egypt the oldest bee hieroglyph dates back to about 3000 BCE. In fact, the Bee itself was considered to be a sacred symbol. Bees, Beeswax, and honey were all valuable contributions to Egyptian society which we will discuss further in later posts. Honey was considered to be an expensive commodity that only the higher classes of the Royal Court could enjoy. In some cases, the giving/offering of honey was not only used in ceremonies but also considered a way of paying a debt to those owed since their economy was not currency-based like ours.
