­čÉŁIn Ancient Egypt the oldest bee hieroglyph dates back to about 3000 BCE. In fact, the Bee itself was considered to be a sacred symbol. Bees, Beeswax, and honey were all valuable contributions to Egyptian┬ásociety which we will discuss further in later posts. Honey was considered to be an expensive commodity┬áthat only the higher classes of the Royal Court could enjoy. In some cases, the giving/offering of honey was not only used in ceremonies┬ábut also considered a way of paying a debt to those owed since their economy was not currency-based like ours.┬á
